如果是单纯的越过，用cross English应该可以。感觉是跨越的话，应该用take over English。强调挑战的话。
pass across the line 不可以把across去掉。across是介词，意思是：“横越,、穿过。。。” 如：We walked across the street. 我们穿过马路。 pass the line根据字面意思是：“传递这根/条线” 如果我的回答对你有所帮助。
介词后可直接跟名词，若其后跟动词的话，动词用v-ing形式，不知是不是你想知道的？
